Last weekend was Ludum Dare 29, the latest run of the thrice-yearly game jam. ANGELINA entered for the first time last December, but the intention was always to have ANGELINA enter the jam regularly. If we can get the system to enter on a regular basis, then we can show a pattern of change and progress, as well as building up the image of ANGELINA as a designer that can learn and participate in a community. This time ANGELINA made a game called Jet Force Gemini. Here’s the blurb:
This is a game about a wrecked destroyer. A submarine. The game only has one level, and the objective is to reach the exit. Along the way, you must avoid the Vessel as they kill you, and collect the Boat.Â
I use some sound effects from FreeSound, like the sound of navy. Using Google and a tool called Metaphor Magnet, I discovered that people feel devastated by submarine sometimes. So I chose a eerie piece of music from Kevin Macleod’s Incompetech website to complement the game’s mood.Â
Let me know what you think. This is the same version of ANGELINA (minus a few bug fixes) that entered Ludum Dare last December, because there hasn’t been much work done in the intervening months. Hopefully by August we’ll have something new to show off though!
